    Dell Latitude D630 + Huawei E620 + Vodafone 3G + Windows Vista blues

To make a long story short, my new laptop froze almost immediately after I inserted a Huawei 3G PC Card (PCMCIA) and made an attempt to connect to Vodafone's 3G network. I decided to call Vodafone Greece, but there was no available answer. "We'll call you" was the answer I got. Before that, I had searched the internets for a possible solution. Someone mentioned getting a newer version of the card itself, but mine was already "newer". So, next step was to visit the Huawei site for the latest drivers. After downloading the whole package from their site, at an amazing 40kbps average speed, I was able to setup their version of the E620 3G connection program (which added some virtual COM ports that the Vodafone version did not). I connected to the Vodafone 3G network using Huawei's connection program ...and there was no freezing after several minutes of being online! So the next -and final- step was to check whether Vodafone's original connection program would work after the installation of Huawei's software and the subsequent system changes it introduced. And ...success! After -again- several minutes of being online, nothing froze. I have not checked it extensively, but I suspect the problem has been solved.
Update #1: Vodafone called me. They said this laptop is in their "black list" of 3G incompatibilities. No available answer concerning a possible swap of the PC Card with the USB modem.
Update #2: The problem is not solved. After a few minutes online, the laptop forze again. Tomorrow, a struggle starts to convince Vodafone to swap my E620 card with a USB 3G modem. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
